For us, relationships and strong attachments are at the core of helping a child to develop their sense of \u2018belonging\u2019 as outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework. Positive interactions and engaging with both the children and their families helps to develop the child\u2019s sense of security and enables us to understand their individual needs. To establish these relationships and attachments we provide a caring, nurturing, and welcoming environment that celebrates the diverse range of cultures we have within our service. We pride ourselves on our transition process, spending time getting to know our families to ensure we are meeting the needs of the children in our care, providing a fluid transition\u00a0between home and Piccolo.<\/p>\n
Once children are settled, we begin to focus on how to support the child in the here and now, recognised as the \u2018being\u2019 element of the EYLF. As stated in Article 3 of the UNICEF Rights of the Child, our primary concern is working towards the best interest of the children in our care. Our primary care is the happiness of the children in our care, for children to thrive; positive, loving relationships and attachments are crucial. Secure relationships are maintained through educators that are nurturing and caring, enabling children to feel settled and therefore be confident to explore their environment and develop their independence. We believe that mutual respect between children, families and educators\u00a0fosters a calm and caring environment for children to be a part of.<\/p>\n
Article 12 of the UNICEF Rights of the Child identifies that all children should have the right to say what they think and have a voice in decisions being made, we encourage and respect children and their families\u2019 values and ensure this is celebrated at Piccolo and that we include children in the decision making throughout the day. As identified in Article 29 of We embrace each child\u2019s individuality and value the diverse range of culture and values we have within our service and we embed this into our daily practice.
